Eric Hilt

Eric Hilt is Associate Professor of Economics at Wellesley College, and a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER).  He received his PhD in Economics from Columbia University, and his research focuses on history of American business organizations and their governance, and more generally on the role of legal institutions in shaping economic and financial development.  His research has been published in a wide range of economics, economic history and business history journals.  In 2009, he was awarded the Arthur Cole Prize for the best article in the Journal of Economic History, and the Larry Neal Prize for the best article in the journal Explorations in Economic History.
